Documenting Rivers
Inspired by the ‘Mayday for Rivers’ programme initiated by DUCT (Duzi-uMngeni Conservation Trust) volunteers, MCF aims to facilitate an understanding of environmental issues related to river and community health and catchment management.
A small team will be walking the tributaries of the Mngeni River over the next two years. The main aims are:
- To collect up-to-date data (all impacts on the river) to create a complete picture of the health of the river.
- To make recommendations for possible interventions to resolve and mitigate many of the impacts.
- To initiate community involvement and encourage people to adopt sections of the river - undertaking to monitor and care for their part of the river.
